Father's Day + iBaby

Happy 1st Father's Day Adam!!
We started the morning w/ breakfast in bed :)
Then came the gooooooood stuff...Adam is quite the Mac/Apple fan, and he has been stoked (to put it lightly) about the new iPhone4 that's coming out tomorrow. (he's the cutest iNerd;) His, and my, favorite feature is that there is VIDEO CALLING, that they call "face time", how fantastic is that?? We talked about getting us both one...but they're pretty spendy :( So it was a no-go for a while...and whenever Adam brought it up I'd remind him about the $$$ factor...when really I was just counting down the days 'til Father's day so I could do this:
...surprise him with his own little iBaby to hold him over 'til Thursday when he could get his new iPhone!!
Both my boys were quite the happy campers!!!! :D
(And we're excited for our camping adventure tomorrow as we wait in line at the Apple Store in Salt Lake, lawn chairs & sack lunches in-tow...wish us luck!)

We then got dressed and headed out to church
...but 1st, a little self-timer family portrait :)
Then we came home and enjoyed a sweet Sunday afternoon together...followed by a much needed nap, for all 3 of us ;)
* He stands so tall with those strong legs! *

Adam is meant to be a father...
He's absolutely adorable with Brooks...watching them together takes my breath away. I'm so grateful for a husband who is an amazing help-meet to me as a mother, and who truly holds his role as a father close to his heart.

We love you sweetheart/Daddy!!

Table dancing...oh yes :)

(Okay, so it's technically counter dancing)

Before devouring last night's supreeeemme nachos (which were ridiculously delicious) we got some entertainment from our little Brooks...he has quite the moves!

PS - Father's Day is this weekend...Adam has no idea what's coming...I'll finally get to surprise him...mwahaha! So excited =)

Temporary Home

This morning I read an account of a tender mother who's baby, growing inside her, was diagnosed at just 20 weeks with a terminal condition that was "incompatible with life"...and how they treasured her short 1 1/2 months in their sweet little family, along with their son Brady. She, Meredith, is the sister-in-law of one of my very best and dearest friends. My friend, Shauna, put a post on her blog about how yesterday would've been her sweet niece's 1st birthday...and she left a link to read the story of Lily Jane. I had read it before, and reading it for a second time brought back the same sweet, tender hurt my heart to read about the pain & sorrow she and Craig, her husband and Shauna's brother, went through...but I was uplifted by the way they handled it all with grace, and with such faith in our Savior's plan. Meredith wrote about how they soaked up every moment they had with their little Lily, counting each one a blessing from their Heavenly Father. It's an example and reminder to me to truly cherish each and every day with my sweet little Brooks...And to work hard at making sure we're together forever. I'm so grateful for His plan.

Then, on my way bringing lunch to Adam, I heard a song on the radio that I've loved...Carrie Underwood's "Temporary Home." I still remember the first time I heard it...I was pregnant with Brooks, and the words from the last verse and especially the chorus touched me so much they brought me to tears...(and if you know me well, you know it wasn't just the pregnancy horomones:)

"Old man, hospital bed,
The room is filled with people he loves.
And he whispers don't cry for me,
I'll see you all someday.
He looks up and says, 'I can see God's face.'

This is my temporary Home
It's not where I belong.
Windows and rooms that I'm passin' through.
This was just a stop,on the way to where I'm going.
I'm not afraid because I know... this was
My temporary home

This is our temporary home."

I remember thinking how our house was going to just be a temporary home for my little one (we didn't know if it was a boy or girl, but we'll say he;)...that he would be leaving his Heavenly home to be a part of our earthly family, and we'd provide him with a temporary home until he creates a family and home of his own, and then eventually returns to his Heavenly Father. And I know that while that precious, little Lily was in her temporary home shorter than most, I have no doubt it was a sweet stay. And now she is truly home. Adam and I are doing our best to keep Brooks's home a place of peace, laughter, joy, and faith...time together is so precious. And again, thank heaven for His perfect plan of happiness.

Graduation, 1st Birthday, and Random pics

Danner, Adam's brother, graduated last week from Viewmont HS!!! Woohoo!
* * * Class of 2010 * * *
It was so great to be there and hear him speak. It was an awesome speech, encouraging his fellow classmates to plant their roots strong in what they believe in...storms will come, but they won't fall if they hold to their beliefs and do what is right. It was a great speech! We're proud of you big-D! :)
* BIG graduating class! *

* Danner, as the Senior Class President, giving the last speech *

Anniversary, weddings, & a little laundry :)

Our 2-year anniversary was last month...
i loooooove anniversaries!
It was so sweet to talk about what we've been through and enjoyed together over our past two years of marriage...and what we're excited for in the looks good :)

On the actual day (May 24th) I surprised Adam at work with a candle lit left-over lunch in his break room. I know, how romantic ;)
That night we went to a family dinner at Mama and Papa Kjar's house for the May birthdays :) So we celebrated just us (w/ our little Brooks of course) by going out on Friday night...
Adam surprised me with where we went to dinner and took me to this Vietnamese restaurant he's told me all about before...and it was all that I expected and more! Cafe Trang had a funky, oriental feel that I really liked, the food was delish, and the check was easy on the wallet. Doesn't get much better than that :)
While we waited for our food...
...we have too much fun together...

Our delectable dishes:
And afterward, we got dessert at one of our favorites: Starbucks :) Their heavenly cream-based frapps & some tasty pastries hit the spot.

Love was most definitely in the air in May...
Two of Adam's closest friends got hitched!!
And can I just tell you that weddings make me absolutely giddy :) Just thinking about two people that have grown in love, and are giving each other their hearts, promising to stick by each other through it all...puts a HUGE smile on my face!
And if it was my choice, I'd marry my sweet Adam over and over and over again...
I love love.

Wedding #1: Quin and Dani Monson!!
They are absolutely adorable together :)
We're SOOOOOOOOO happy for them!

* Adam and the buds since they were wee little schoolers. (even though I don't know if Quin was ever really little. haha) *

Wedding #2: John & Christy Pearson!!
We love John like a brother! Christy is a lucky lady :) We're excited to get to know her better! But from what we do know, she's perfect for it.

They had these fantastic bubble-gun-do-hickies to use as they left the reception on their way to the honeymoon :) brilliant.
And at the reception, which was at John's gorgeous home in the country, they had the most fabulous cupcakes for the refreshments...all homemade. Yowza.
And let me tell you, they were SOOOOOOOOOOO good!
And the best part, they made them regular size AND i was able to try one of each! (okay, 2 of some and 3 and caught me).
Here are all the flavors they had:
- Chocolate cake w/ mint chocolate icing
- Lime coconut cake w/ white chocolate frosting
- Caramel cake w/ salted caramel frosting
- Red velvet cake w/ cream cheese frosting
- German chocolate cake w/ coconut pecan frosting
- Chocolate cake w/ peanut butter frosting
- Spice cake w/ cream cheese frosting
- Strawberry cake w/ french vanilla frosting
And I talked to one of the sisters and she gave me the recipes...ALL of them! Score! (I'd love to email them to anyone who's interested:)
Can't wait to start bakin'...

But you know what I think is even sweeter than all of those scrumptious cupcakes???

My little B helping me with the laundry earlier today.
* don't worry, that's clean laundry ;) *

And this is just an assumption...but I think he's smiling EXTRA big because he had lots of sweet dreams last night...during his almost TEN HOURS of SLEEP!!! Woot woot! Of course, Adam and I didn't know he was going to sleep through the night, and we stayed up late watching So You Think You Can Dance online...oy. But hey, I say sleep is overrated! Who's with me??!!
So proud of our good little sleeper!
