High 5 to Fall

Those are little snapshots of my five favorite things, at the moment, that come along with fall...

Sharing warm, sweet drinks.
Gorgeous colors cover the mountains and trees.
Fresh orchard goods, the season's apples and peaches never disappoint.
Cute, cozy jackets.

What are some of your fall favorites?

I spy with my little eye...

Leaves bursting with color...
A momma and her little boy, all bundled up on a walk, ready to collect some of those leaves...
...sweet kids raking those leaves...
(who's with me and hopes they jumped in the piles after?)
...a stroller crunching those leaves...
...a little boy smiling because of those leaves...
...a gorgeous sunset with the colors of those leaves...

PS - Do you see my knit hat??? (remember I wore it for these baby bumps pics?) Well I got it from Meggie's Love...an awesome shop that everyone should check out. Ready, go :)

white pumpkins, sunshine, and grilled cheese sandwiches

Brooks and I enjoyed a fun, incredibly sunny afternoon on Wednesday at Pack Farms Pumpkin Patch with our friends Kira, Grant, and Avery :) I even got some video! Sorry it's so incredibly pixelated, but it still shares a sweet memory nonetheless. Different from our first pumpkin picking last week, this time we got a huge cinderella pumpkin and two white pumpkins (they're fantastic!). And after hauling away our orange and white goods, Kira was so sweet to have us over for a delicious lunch of grilled cheese and tomato soup. It was a perfect afternoon :)

{ picture above: notice the "L" that's MIA? haha }

"Opening Our Hearts" by Gerald N. Lund
"...the condition of our hearts directly affects our sensitivity to spiritual things. Let us make it a part of our everyday striving to open our hearts to the Spirit. Since we are the guardians of our hearts, we can choose to do so. We choose what we let in or hold out. Fortunately the Lord is anxious to help us choose wisely."

(yesterday's) Physical Health:
20 minutes on the elliptical, then crunches and squats (Brooks totally "helped" be with both of those. He'd try to sit on my belly during the crunches. And he'd squat and jump with me my while doing squats. LOL)

2011 Pumpkin Picking with the Kjars

We certainly had a great time picking out our pumpkins at Rasmussen Farms yesterday...we chose our wagon, and filled it with gorgeous pumpkins :) We got a few that were bright orange, one was deep green, and a couple with "warts" (my favorite). Brooks was constantly on the move, exploring the mounds and mounds of pumpkins, only to sit still for the pictures I did my best to capture. Becca and I laughed about our boys (born just 3 week apart) and how last year we could just plop them down and take loads of pictures...this year was a bit more of a challenge. ;) But we loved every minute with the sweet Kjar family, soaking up the gorgeous fall colors, the gray sky, and our cute kids that love being together.

They even have a swingset out back! Brooks swung on a big-kid-swing for the first time, and did great!! He loooooooooved having Grandma behind him giving him the sweetest, slow pushes as he held onto the chains with all his might :)

Comparing Little B last night to last year's pumpkin picking...quite the change. I love my growing boy.

Spiritual Growth:
12. And now, my sons, remember, remember that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation; that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds, yea, his shafts in the whirlwind, yea, when all his hail and his mighty storm shall beat upon you, it shall have no power over you to drag you down to the gulf of misery and endless wo, because of the rock upon which ye are built, which is a sure foundation, a foundation whereon if men build they cannot fall.

Happy Weekend

The weather man says today is supposed to be wet (which the heart of this NW girl loves)...but lets hope it dries out by tomorrow for my boy's sake :)

We went to our beloved Castle Park again early this weekend with our new neighbors...it was chilly and windy, a perfect fall day. Let's hope we get another one tomorrow...I'll bring hot cocoa to warm us up so we can play even longer :)
HAPPY WEEKEND!!

October 2011 ~ Visiting Teaching Message: "If We Do Not Doubt" by Julie B. Beck
"Challenging times cry out for strong parents and examples who teach the truth that Helaman’s warriors knew: 'If they did not doubt, God would deliver them' (Alma 56:47). Teaching and exemplifying this truth today requires vigilance. However, we need not fear. When we know who we are and who God is and we have made covenants with Him, we—like these mothers of warriors—will have great influence for good."

Pumpkin Patch Kid - Circa Oct. 2010

This weekend we're planning on going to a pumpkin patch with our friends Kira, Mike, and their sweet little kiddos. Oh I can't wait! I'm sure Brooks will just love running through the field of pumpkins, and I can just imagine him yelling, "Ball! Ball!" then try to pick them up (they look like fun balls right?).

And I can't help but think of the last time Brooks was at a pumpkin patch...just 7 months old and as cute as ever. We went with the Kjars, had a great time, and hope to go again this year :) Can't get enough pumpkins right?
{ Samson (cousin) and Brooks }
{ Our loot...pumpkins and cornstalks to display by our front door }

Spiritual Health:
Watched and listened to Elder Robert D. Hales' talk from GC...my favorite message of the weekend.
He is a wonderful man. My mom knew him very well when she worked at the Church Office Building years ago before she was married. I have met him a couple times, and he even made time, two years ago, to meet intimately with my mom, a sister of mine, and me where we visited and then he gave my sister a priesthood blessing that she so incredibly needed. What a man of God. I pray for him, his health, and his family.
