A few minutes of summer

I am absolutely loving fall.  The cool autumn weather calls for jackets and scarves, visiting a pumpkin patch is on the agenda, and hot chocolate always hits the spot.

But today for some reason I missed summer, and got a little homesick for the NW too. So I re-watched a video made of our friends, the Stevens, this past summer in Portland and it made me all sorts of happy. Adam is the handsome husband/daddy in the film, an old friend from Washington. :) And I'm so glad I can call his always-gorgeous wife my friend too! They're parents to their little stud muffin Jude, and you can see in the movie how much they absolutely love him. The man behind the camera is another old friend from Washington, the very talented Phil Goodwin. He captured a wonderful "day in the life" of their sweet family. Some simple and some pretty fantastic activities, all in the lovely city of Portland. Watching it I wanted to stay at each place longer! Phil caught priceless moments...and I still can't get over the rad transitions in his filming from scene to scene...watch it and you'll see. And I dare you not to smile. :)

Oh and it was Britney's birthday yesterday! Like I told you before Brit, how I'd love to be in Portland so I could treat you to lunch and then watch 'New Girl' and 'Parenthood' with you while we devour a giant chocolate cake from Costco. A girl can wish right? :)

4 Silhouettes + 4 Spiders

It's pretty awesome what you can do with photos, rope, painted dollar store candle holders, and a few pipe-cleaner spiders.  I'm pretty happy with the monochromatic Halloween display on our mantel. :)

I got the inspiration for the photo banner from here...just gathered a few old photos of fall and Halloweens gone by, turned them black and white using this app, ordered them as 5x7"s, cut off the corners, glued them onto some black card stock for a clean look, then strung it up!

And my favorite part, two brand new silhouettes of our Littles! This year I used a different method than last year...I just took profile shots of the children, ordered 8x10"s of each, cut them out and painted them black, then put the silhouettes on the canvases. Just a few steps, and makes such a statement. I love them. :)

As you can see, Brooks really enjoys looking at the photos on the banner...his favorite is of him and his cousin Samson at the pumpkin patch last year, he practically pulled it off the rope he was so excited! ;) All of the photos just ooze with Halloween-goodness and sweet memories of fall time.

I'm sharing this over at Whipperberry...go check out other fantastic projects, recipes, and creations people are sharing! :)

Fresh start...

I've done a bad thing.
The past 2 1/2 months (and a little more) have been so good to me.
They've been filled with:
- a trip back to my sweet home Washington
- 3 fabulous family reunions
- my sweet Grandfather passing away & being at his funeral
- cabin trips
- my Young Womens' Girl's Camp
- many walks outside with my little B
- a couple lovely weddings
- General Conference with my sister
- a pumpkin patch turn photo shoot
- date nights with my lov-er (most of the time just at home:)
- 1st family photos
- a weekend in Rexburg
- Halloween!
- and the sweetest moments at home, watching my Brooks learn and grow...he's almost 8 months already :)
But alas, I haven't recorded a thing.
I've taken about a bajillion pictures...but I want, and need, to write down the details. Because I will forget. And I want to remember everything. The good, the bad, and the spectacular.
Cause life is mostly good, right?
Right. :)
