Friday night at City Creek

Going to Salt Lake and walking around City Creek with our little family made for a fantastic Friday night this past weekend. The incredible, newly built outdoor shopping center has a stream running through it, a sky bridge, a water/fire fountain, a small splash pad, and numerous shops, big and small. For dinner, Adam and I decided on huge slices of pizza that we shared with Brooks, we sipped on sodas (an early Cinco de Mayo treat), and for dessert enjoyed every bite of the BEST candied apple from the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory...that's real, crushed honeycomb on that caramel and white chocolate-covered apple. Oy, now I'm craving it. :)

After making it down a pretty hilarious escalator ride (I was a basket-case trying to take our two strollers down those moving stairs;) we soaked up every minute of watching Brooks have a ball in the splash pad. It took him a while to want to really get near the holes that spouted water. But soon enough he was running and dancing around like a crazy man with a huge grin on his face, sopping wet, making everyone around him have a good laugh. :) When it was apparent he was getting cold, we took off his wet shirt and put on a cozy, dry jacket and watched the water/fire fountain show with beautiful music playing all around us. Brooks was absolutely spell-bound watching the water "dance." :)

Other than the food, I was pretty proud of myself for sticking to my plan of window shopping only. And I was also pretty proud of Ava for sleeping the whole time! Thanks baby girl!

On our drive home Adam said, "That was such a great night," at least 3 times.
I couldn't have agreed more, it really was.

**Oh, and that lovely dress I'm wearing...courtesy of my sweet friend Britney :)  It's actually one of the maternity pieces she let me borrow!  I wore it higher, belted it up and called it good!  Thanks a million Brit, your fantastic clothes will be back to you by the end of May!...I'll be honest and say I'm soaking them up while I can ;)

Spiritual Health:
Read "The True Path to Happiness" by Quentin L. Cook
Loved when he quoted Joseph Smith who said, "Happiness is the object and design of our existence; and will be the end thereof, if we pursue the path that leads to it; and this path is virtue, uprightness, faithfulness, holiness, and keeping all the commandments of God.

What an awesome day with awesome pics! And hello gorgeous Haley hair! Love that bun with the braid--perfection :)
Your sweet Ava sleeping and Brooks playing are so darling--and those candied apples look so dreamy I could die. The more sugar in my life the better. Just tell my screaming pancreas that ;).
Love you :)

I LOVE City Creek! Pretty sure I went there 3 times in one week. Don't judge. Haha. It looks like a lot more fun, too, with a hubby and some kids!

Classic. TIMELESS. Beautiful.

I am seriously in love with these gorgeous b&w's of your amazing family, Haley.

Giggling a little bit about the harrowing adventure on the escalator. ;) AND hooray for sticking to a "browsing" plan, bet that make you feel good after leaving. LOVE the nights that are "such great nights".

and by the way, is this City Creek place just the coolest place ever? OR WHAT!?

p.s. expect a comment explosion from me, starting now. ;) I've been under the weather again, but have missed reading about your little fam oh so much. Hugs to all of you! xo
