So proud of him...

I saw this quote the other day and it was just what I needed:

"Never give up on a dream just because of the time it will take to accomplish it. The time will pass anyway."
Earl Nightingale

The next three-ish years for our family are going to be a bit different than the last three. Adam has started up school again. To say I am excited and so proud of him is an understatement. To say I'm anxious and dreading the time it will take is also an understatement.

Rewind almost 5 years...January 2008, we were both sophomores attending school at BYU-Idaho, head over heels for each other, one day away from from being engaged. Even though we hadn't tied the knot, we had discussed and researched plans for housing together in the fall.  We were married in May (can I please marry that sweet man again, and again? Pretty please?) and then we were welcomed by Adam's parents to live in their basement apartment for the summer. We both worked and saved up money, with the mindset of heading back up to Rexburg in September to hit the books and continue our education as newly weds. :)  In July, Adam's brother offered him a position in his company, but that would mean we'd stay in Utah and put off school. I must admit, I was very resistant at first. But we prayed about it and felt that road was the one we should take.

Since then, we've been blessed more than words can say. Adam loves the people he works with, he has learned a ton while on the job, and he works hard to provide for our family. We've seen the Lord's hand in our lives...first and foremost our children. I'm not sure they would have come when they did if we were up at school. And the people we've met and grown to call friends here are such blessings.

A few months ago Adam got in touch with counselors at BYU-Idaho and did what he needed to line up a plan for getting his undergrad. He is continuing to work full-time and is doing school part-time online. Slowly but surely accomplishing a life-long goal. We aren't needing to move and there's no commute, both huge blessings in my book! He does have tons of homework to make up for time otherwise spent in a classroom...that's not so great. But the last few weeks Adam has done an awesome job juggling work, school, his church calling, and his ultimate roles as husband and father. Words can't express how much I appreciate that he puts family life first. I know Adam is working hard at his education to better himself as an individual and as a provider for our family. I love that man and we're in this together.

Life does not always pan out the way you expect, or happen in the order you may want...but it all works out. And I'm grateful I know it's working out with Adam by my side. So proud of him...

{ This picture was taken in my college apartment the night Adam proposed and asked me to be his...5 years ago tomorrow! }

Yay Adam! And hooray for education! We have been in school the entire time we've known each other until we both graduated in April. Now Eric is hoping to start school up again in the summer (med school this time) and so it will continue for another 4 or 5 years so I totally feel your pain!! But I certainly believe it will be worth it.

Haley, thank you so much for posting this! My husband isn't going to school right now but working at an awesome job we both love. I've had something in the back of my mind telling me he'll go back to school in years to come. It's going to all be hard, but so incredibly worth it. I love that I can relate with you. So thanks for posting this.

So awesome! Seriously, I loved finishing school while working in my career (aside from the busyness, of course) because it made learning easy for me because I could see immediately how everything I was learning related to me and my patients. I think Adam will learn so much, maybe even more than he would had he finished school first. And you're SUCH a great wife to support him. It stinks to have some of his free-time eaten up, but I did school and work part-time and I always, always had time for my family. So awesome, so exciting, and good luck Adam!

Awesome! That is so neat that he is doing this. You two are so great and make such a stellar team! Landon always said he was an excellent student--one of the best, so I'm sure he will breeze through :) Tell him we're excited for him!! And I'm sure the time will fly for your family. xo

Go Adam! Such exciting times ahead! Although the next three years will be daunting, they will pass quickly and you will be so so proud the moment he walks across the stage at graduation!

That is so great! For 2 years of Mike's schooling, it was while we had kids. It was hard sometimes, but it really went by fast. It will be so worth it! Plus Adam is a smart guy, I'm sure he will do awesome! Happy 5 years, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

So proud of you both. as a team you are unbeatable. Get ready for some memorable, and quite delightful, study dates. And remember, time flies when you're having fun. and you both have shown you know how to find the fun and joyful moments, and you know how to celebrate them. that makes all the difference.

How wonderful!

First of all - I love that picture of the two of you. You look just completely blissfully happy and I love that.

Secondly - aren't husbands the best?! It's inspiring to me when I see my husband juggling around so many things and still being loving and kind and energetic with me and the kids. Adam sounds the same way. Such a blessing to have married such good men!

I love that quote! My husband and I will be married 13 yrs this June and I worked to put him thru school (you know, because we were both poor college students and he had just returned from his misison). Now, he's decided he wants a career change so he's back in school (part-time for now) to complete some prereqs before he applies to Physician Assistant (PA) school. So, I'm STILL working to put him thru school. (This time, he's working too and we have a handsome toddler!).

Best of luck to your hubby. The lack of family time so he can do homework will be worth it in the long run.
