Sunday in the Mountains

A few Sundays ago, Adam and I decided to go for a spontaneous day trip to his family's cabin, just the kids and us. It was gorgeous and we were so glad to be able to enjoy the last of the fall beauty up there! Upon arriving, we hoped in the jeep parked up there, and the bumpy ride up the mountain made for some good laughs. :) We soaked up the view of the valley, it was breath taking to say the least. Brooks could've stayed up there all day, just throwing rocks and saying, "Whoa! So far!!" :) Ava stayed cozy in my sling. And I stole some kisses from my sweetheart. All of that combined with the fresh mountain air, it was good for the soul. And on our drive back to the cabin, we spotted the bull moose (after which they named their cabin "Moose Mountain Lodge")! The kids loved it, and I'm wishing I had captured their farewells on video, "Bye Moose! Byyyye!" We ended our day on a sweet note by playing around in the newly built treehouse, and sipping on hot cocoa on the back porch. It was one of those days that wasn't planned, but turned out to be one I'll never forget.

That's how I think it often happens--our best adventures are the ones we never planned on, but treasure the most.

Thanksgiving at the Kjar Cabin

We enjoyed a cozy and relaxing Thanksgiving with the Kjar family this year. Mama and Papa Kjar's cabin up in the mountains was beyond perfect for a little getaway to celebrate our Day of Thanks, and they put so much into making it such a great holiday! We are so blessed and have much to be grateful for. I whole-heartedly believe that striving to have a thankful heart all year 'round makes for a happy life. But I love that we have a day designated to gather with those we love (and think of those not with us) and count the many blessings that fill our lives with goodness. I know that everything good in my life has stemmed from my Savior. I'm grateful for Him, and I'm grateful for my husband Adam who loves Jesus Christ with all of his heart. The family we're creating together is pretty wonderful...crazy sometimes, but wonderful. No matter what life gives us or where it takes us, we've got each other, and I'll always be grateful for that.

Lake + Cabin Work Retreat

The past couple days were spent at a business retreat with Adam's company. He works with great people...including some family. :)  The first part was spent soaking up gorgeous weather at the lake, then we all enjoyed a cozy night at Papa & Mama Kjar's cabin (Ava's first time!). Such a fun little getaway!

Now if you'll excuse me, I have a load of sandy and marshmallow-y clothes to wash... ;)
