Forts are magical, aren't they?

I can remember building forts with my 2 little sisters...always in the front room. We'd bring gather our supplies of chairs, stools, blankets, sheets, and books (mainly encyclopedias). We'd drape the sheets over the chairs and make sure there was enough material to lay flat on the seat, and we'd "secure" them with piles of books on top. What is it about building a little getaway of blankets inside your house that is so magical?...I'm not sure. But I love it :)

We started a fort on New Years Eve...and decided to finish the construction on New Years Day.
We couldn't have started off 2011 any better.

After enjoying a lunch of leftover curry from the night before, we made our fort...this time "securing" the blankets with rope. And adding stars to the "ceiling."
Our fort in all her glory...
We are pretty proud :)
Brooks absolutely LOVED the stars...it was beyond cute when he'd reach up, streeeeettching his little arm as high as it would go, to get the star he had his eye on. Then he'd yank it down, and look up at Adam & me, star in hand, with a huge grin as if to say,
"Did you see that Mom & Dad?! I got it!"
In our fort, we spooned/snuggled and watched one of my VERY MOST FAVORITE movies...The Holiday :) The scene below is actually what inspired me to make the stars and hang them in our tent. The fort/tent in the movie is stunning!! Some day I'll make one just like it.
Dreamy boys in our dreamy fort :)

PS - Our fort is still up. We watched Extreme Makeover: Home Edition in it last night :) I actually have a little crush on Garrett (the Grommesh boy) from the episode...if you saw it you know what I mean :) If not, click on the link and watch the episode...you won't regret it!!
